BPC to take part in Banking & Payment Technologies East Africa
Banking & Payment Technologies East Africa

17-19 February 2009
Kenyatta International Conference Centre, Nairobi, Kenya

BPC Banking Technologies, a recognised provider of e-payment and retail banking solutions for the global financial industry, is participating in the international conference “Banking & Payment Technologies East Africa” to take place on 17-19 February in Nairobi, Kenya.

Across the world, the electronic payment industry is experiencing considerable growth, driven by the increasing consolidation of national and regional payment networks. Multiple payment products and channels with an emphasis on convergence and mobility have completely outpaced cash and checks. The world is facing the lure of alternative payment methods, aimed at replacing cash with convenience, and therefore it comes as no surprise that East Africa is among many other regions to exploit the growing potential of modern technologies. As banks, payment processors and retailers seek to streamline their payment systems and manage security risks, there is an urgent need for more sophisticated technology-based solutions that can help benefit from the emerging opportunities, offered by the ever-changing e-payment market. The event is designed to provide an in-depth analysis of the East African payment landscape as well as to find a viable balance between innovation and risk.

The 2009 conference will continue the successful format of previous years, with the comprehensive speaker panel and absorbing topics which have proven to be of most interest for companies engaged in e-payment and card management. Vendors and service providers alongside with top representatives from Kenya’s leading banks and financial institutions, among which are the Central Bank of Kenya, South African Fraud Prevention Service and Ministry for Information and Communications, will gather to share their views on modern payment solutions and risk management as well as the regulatory framework of e-banking.

Topics to be featured throughout the event are as follows:

  • Mobile – a new banking paradigm for the region
  • Tools for effective management
  • Switches for regional and national growth
  • Early morning technology warm-up & security strategy alert
  • The CIO’s priority agenda
  • Selecting the right technology
  • ATM software trends

Innovative payment opportunities, skyrocketing nowadays, are to be in the conference spotlight. While selecting the right technology, one aims to improve profitability and therefore requires a system which can seamlessly integrate with their everyday business needs in terms of security and cost efficiency. On February 18, Faris Al-Mashta, BPC Business Development Director, will speak on emerging payment trends and technologies. In his speech “The lure of alternative payments: Capitalizing on growing opportunities offered by e-payments”, Faris Al-Mashta will touch upon challenges and opportunities the payment industry is facing nowadays. The presentation, covering modern card based products and services as well as various delivery channels, broadly supported by the BPC SmartVista Suite, will highlight unique functionality of the company’s software solutions which fit into any multi-channel delivery environment, including e-commerce and m-commerce, and bring comprehensive value added functionality, such as MSP/TPP multi-banking, risk management, fraud prevention, loyalty schemes and retail banking features.
